Original Modjeska - A Kentucky candy tradition with the fancy name and even better flavor!

Created in 1889 from a family recipe, Modjeskas were originally called a "caramel biscuit" until the creator and master candy maker saw the U.S. debut of "A Doll's House," a play by Henrik Ibsen, in Louisville, and became enchanted by Polish actress who played the lead role. Madame Helena Modjeska, a world renown queen of the European stage, quickly became the candy maker's muse and he changed the name of these pillowy soft, caramel-coated marshmallows to the "Modjeska."

While the name may sound fancy and mysterious, Modjeskas are still made the old-fashioned way from a secret recipe that has been handed down for generations. These hand poured, hand dipped, and hand wrapped bites pack a big punch of deliciousness in such a small package.  We offer two sizes, 4 and 8 oz. But do yourself a favor and buy the big bag, because they are sure to disappear quickly.
